"HAPPY FLAG DAY"


This is Flag Day. On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the Stars and Stripes as the national flag.
Also on this date June 14, 1801, former American Revolutionary War General and notorious turncoat Benedict Arnold died in London.
June 14, 1846, a group of U. S settlers in Sonoma proclaimed the Republic of California.
June 14, 1928, the Republican National Convention nominated Herbert Hoover for president on the first ballot.
June 14, 1943, the Supreme Court in West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette, ruled that schoolchildren could not be compelled to salute the flag of the United States.
June 14, 1954, the words "under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance.
June 14, 1967, the space probe Mariner 5 was launched from Cape Kennedy, Florida on a flight that took it past Venus.
June 14Th has been a very interesting day in our country.
