"MISS G WITH A MUSIC JOKE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music loves these music jokes!

This little boy tells his Mom, "MY PIANO TEACHER IS VERY RELIGIOUS. SHE KEEPS CLOSING HER EYES AND SAYING, GOOD LORD!"

I have never done that, all my students are "STARS!"

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC" IT'S WHAT YOU DO---NOT WHEN YOU DO IT!

Miss G with Little House of Music finds this article from the Reader's Digest very interesting!

"IT'S WHAT YOU DO---NOT WHEN YOU DO IT!"

Ted Williams, at age 42 slammed a home run in his last official time at bat.
Mickey Mantle, age 20, hit 23 home runs his first full year in the major leagues.
Golda Meir was 71 when she became prime minister of Israel.
William Pitt II was 24 when he became prime minister of Great Britain.
George Bernard Shaw was 94 when one of his plays was first produced.
Mozart was just seven when his first composition was published.
Now how about this? Benjamin Franklin was a newspaper columnist at 16, and a framer of the United States Constitution when he was 81.

You're never too young or too old if you've got talent.
Let's recognize that age has little to do with ability!
Golda Meir on left and George Bernard Shaw on right.

"MISS G WITH A MUSIC JOKE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music wishes every child felt this way!

This little girl said, "THE PIANO HAS NO BATTERIES, SO I CAN PLAY IT ALL I WANT!"

Parents of piano students PLEASE make this suggestion to your piano students! It just may help!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC AND I THINK "McCAIN READ MY BLOG ON HIM!"

Miss G with Little House of Music congratulates McCain for his Vice President pick and running mate.
Of course at first I thought it would have been wonderful if Hillary would have changed parties and became McCain's running mate but I'm just as happy with his pick as I would have been if he had picked Hillary!
I am not a women's libber by any means but this is going to be so cool! Let's just keep this election one of the most unbelievable elections in our Country's history! What next???
Whomever thought of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate deserves a "Gold" medal. I can hardly wait to get to the voting machine in November.
There should be a movie make about this election called; "ARE YOU BELIEVING THIS!"
Best of luck to all the candidates and may they all remain safe.

MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC---"MEET THE NEXT GENE KRUPA"

Miss G with Little House of Music introduces the next Gene Krupa!
These pictures are of one of my "Star" students Mr. Jack.
I have been teaching Jack for just about all of his life. Jack and I are buddies and great friends.
Although I do not teach the drums, I have a drum set in my music room for the enjoyment of my students. Well, last week at Jack's piano lesson he decided to get down on the drums! His Mother, Patricia and myself just let him do his thing until we could NO longer stand it!!! Please take notice to the lollipop in his mouth!
My Jack was born with the gift of music. It's in every part of him, he is a natural and really was playing the drums very well. So now not only is Jack a very creative and talented pianist he is a drummer as well.
I told him Mother that I'd be more than happy for Jack to take the drum set to their home and start playing, I even have a teacher for him! I wish you could have seen his Mother's face! Of course she said no!
How are we ever going to have another Gene Krupa if no one plays the drums because the drums are too noisy! I'm going to offer the drums to Jack again this week!
Jack is so precious and has the longest eye lashes I've ever seen. Why do the boys always get the long beautiful lashes?
I have enjoyed teaching Jack and his brother Justin for years now and I also just love the whole family. They are truly special people.
All the girls think Jack and Justin are really cute but I'm the only one that gets a hug from them every week!
I'm looking forward to another drum solo on Thursday!

"MISS G WITH A "VERY INSPIRING" STORY, "JEWELRY FOR JOY"

Miss G with Little House of Music with a "Special" story about two of my "Special" students; sisters, Elise and Sara.
Elise went to a mission camp. There she watched a documentary about the children of Uganda and the "Invisible Children" organization. Elise was so moved that these children didn't have anything that she wanted to do something to help the children in Uganda.
"JEWELRY FOR JOY" was born: http://web.me.com/eshivamber
Elise and Sara have started their own campaign to help the children in Uganda. They are making jewelry and beautiful jewelry I may add! Every penny of the proceeds go to the children in Uganda. I am very proud of Elise and Sara. Wouldn't it just be wonderful if everyone helped everyone else like these sisters are helping other children! Like they say, "Out of the Mouths of Babes!" Hopefully we can all learn a lesson from what two children are doing to help other children!
I'm asking you all to go to their website and read the information about the Invisible Children! After you read the article which is short and to the point you will want to buy their wonderful jewelry. I've purchased a bracelet and ear rings so far! Their jewelry is one of a kind and very unique. Not only are these two sisters talented and creative pianist they are also talented and creative jewelry manufacturers!
Elise told me, "It is not safe there and we should help, they can't even buy a banana there." Isn't that sad?
It's soon time to think about that special Christmas present. "Jewelry For Joy" has just the perfect gift for that perfect someone and it's one of a kind!
The pictures are of Sara on the left and Elise on the right. They brought their jewelry to Little House of Music and I'm helping them sell their creations! The jewelry is cool for the young and exquisite for the not so young!
YOU GO ELISE AND SARA, MY HATS OFF TO YOU BOTH AND I'M SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!

"MISS G WITH A VERY INTERESTING IDEA!"

This is Miss G with Little House of Music.
I got this idea that I think is cool plus funny!
Wouldn't it be GREAT if Hillary Clinton changed parties and was John McCain's running mate. McCain would be sure to win then!!!
If it were me, I'd do it! This hold election has been so crazy we might as well keep it that way!!!
"McCAIN CLINTON TICKET!"

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC IS STARTING NEW CLASSES!"

Hi, Miss G here with Little House of Music. In two weeks I'm starting three new Little House of Music classes. One is a "Free" class for disabled and handicap children. For years my chosen charity was "My Refuge" for abused and neglected children, but they have now closed so I need a new adventure in my life. So I have chosen a free Little House of Music class for challenged children. It takes 10 weeks to get through level one of Little House of Music but it may take us twice that long but it doesn't matter if it's 40 lessons. Music will be wonderful for these special children. I can already see their smiles! This class will be held on Monday's from 4:30 until 5:30.
The other two classes are for children ages 3-6. One will be held every Tuesday from 4:00 until 5:00 and the other class will be held on Wednesdays at the same time.
It's time to get these little one's learning music Mom's and Dad's!
For any of the three classes call 777-7192 to sign up your child for level one of Little House of Music.

"MISS G'S TWO "STARS" AND I REALLY MEAN IT!

Miss G with Little House of Music presents her two "Stars!" On the right is Miss Summer and on the left is Miss Starr! We have a real star here but only she has two r's in her name.
These two young ladies are best of friends. Starr lives across the street from Summer's Mimi! That means grandmother! Starr is in the fourth grade and is a cheerleader. Summer is in the second grade and has tried just about everything there is to try. She is getting a taste of everything our world has to offer. This past summer, Summer has taken classes in cooking, pottery and music just to name a few.
Summer is just about my own child! When she was born I lived across the street from her. We have gone from Baby to one of my great piano students all in about 7 years!
Hope you two girls continue to have so much fun together. There is nothing better than friendship!
Hugs to you both,
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G WITH A PRECIOUS PICTURE---SWEET DREAMS!"

Miss G with Little House of Music just loves this picture. Is there anything more precious? I came across this picture while I was on the Internet. No, this isn't my cat but I sure wish it was!
I wonder if cats dream? If so this one is having a beautiful, calm dream. No cares in the world.
Enjoy and I hope you all have sweet dreams tonight.

"MISS G FROM LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WELCOMES BACK KATIE AND BRANDON FROM CHINA."

Miss G with Little House of Music was so happy to see Katie and Brandon again. They were visiting their grandparents in China for the whole summer. What a vacation! Just think of all the knowledge then obtained while visiting China. A completely different culture than ours and so many new things to see.
Katie and Brandon's Mother is originally from China.
They were in Beijing during the Olympics but didn't get to see any events. They did get Olympics shirts. Brandon is wearing his in the picture.
Welcome back to the USA Katie and Brandon and welcome back to your music. They are both excellent students and I sure did miss them.

"MISS G WITH YET ANOTHER MUSICAL QUOTE!"

Miss G from Little House of Music with a very clever musical quote.

"YOU ARE THE MUSIC WHILE THE MUSIC LASTS."
T.S Eliot

Then I say, lets just keep the music going on and on forever!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G FROM LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET THE FATHER OF THE PIANOFORTE."

Hi, Miss G with Little House of Music has a very interesting music story to tell.
Meet Mr. Muzio Clementi. Clementi was born in Rome, Italy at the beginning of the Classical period, in 1752 and lived until 1832.
Some composers were not very popular and had no money while they were alive. they became famous only years after they died. The opposite happened to composer Muzio Clementi. Her was famous and rich when he was alive, but was not as well-known after his death. In the early 1800's Clementi's music was as famous as that of Hayden and even Beethoven, but today not many people have even heard about him. Yet, the inscription on his tomb in the Westminster Abbey in England proudly announces that he was:
"THE FATHER OF THE PIANOFORTE."
Clementi started a company that published music and made pianofortes. (The pianoforte was an early piano. It was also called the fortepiano.)
Like so many others I've never heard his music but will order some today! I just wonder how many other great composers we have never heard of!

"MISS G'S TWO PRECIOUS GRANDCHILDREN TAKE IT TO THE ROAD!"

Miss G with Little House of Music couldn't keep up with her two grandchildren on their bikes!
They had so much fun, but I felt like I needed a nap when we got home. I can see why young people have children.
Several times I have to run to keep up with them and of course when I said wait for me they went faster!
My darling grandchildren, Braden on the left and Natalie on the right. Aren't they precious in their helmets?
My daughter, Sue Ann won't let me get them horns for their bikes, I wonder why?
I guess I'm going to have to get a bike if I want to keep up with them!
Enjoy!

"MISS G WELCOMES LOGAN BACK TO LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC!"

Miss G with Little House of Music is so excited that my Logan has returned back home! The Flordia Gator's biggest fan has returned to Florida!
Logan's Dad was in the United States Air Force and was transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming for two years.
The minute they returned to Florida I received a wonderful phone call. My Logan was back! It was like he was gone forever. Logan is now 12 and in the sixth grade. When he left we had a party for him and of course anytime Miss G says goodbye she cries!

Besides playing the paino Logan enjoys football, kickball and dogs and cats.
Logan continued with piano lessons while he was gone. I always write on all my students new songs, play your scales 5,000 times a week! I want them to realize just how important the scales are. Well anyway, his new teacher looked at the books he was using when he took from me and she asked him, "Did your other piano teacher really make you play your scales 5,000 times!" Logan laughed and say no, she just wants us to play them a lot of times every week.
If I put play your scales 50 times a week they might do it five times, but by putting 5,000 times they play their scales a lot more than five times a week!
It looks like Logan grew a foot while he was gone. That good old Wyoming air! He looks so good to me I had to have 5,000 hugs!
Welcome home Logan! We have so many exciting songs to learn and so much theory to learn and so many more scales to learn! I better stop or he'll leave again!
We are going to have so much fun!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G CONGRADULATE'S MISS CONNER ON PLAYING HER VERY FIRST SONGS!"

Miss G here with Little House of Music.
Can you tell by the picture how excited eight year old Connor is about playing her first song? She was smiles from ear to eat. Isn't she just precious?
Connor really wanted to take piano lessons really bad. Her first lesson was so much fun. I told her the whole story about the clef's getting married and after returning from their honeymoon they moved into their new home, The Grand Staff! I then proceeded to explain the whole Little House of Music story to her. It's as easy as that!
I don't think the children realize that on lesson number one they are going to be playing songs and reading music. It's so easy after they hear the story!
Connor played three songs by reading the music on her first lesson. You Go Connor!
One thing the children get confused about is that middle C can be dressed as a quarter note, half note, dotted half note and whole note. It's always the same note because it's at the same place on the staff but it's just dressed differently. Just like all of us. We dress differently every day when we come out to play!
Welcome to the Little House of Music family Connor. We are so happy you have joined us. In a year from now you'll know hundreds of songs to play and will be reading the music to everyone of them!
Hugs to Connor, From Miss G at Little House of Music

"MISS G'S WHALE BEACHES ITSELF DURING STORM!"

Hi, this is Miss G from Little House of Music and you are not going to believe this one.
My toy whale I brought for my grandchildren beached itself or maybe I should say pooled itself during tropical storm Fay!
When I got up in the morning and saw that I thought I must take a picture of this and blog it!
After I took the picture I saved the whale's life and put it back into the swimming pool!
There are so many cute things that happen in our world if we just take the time to see them!
By the way the whale's name is Shamu! Yes, my grandchildren were at Sea World twice this summer.
Enjoy!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WITH A MONDAY MUSICAL QUOTE!"

Yes, it's Miss G again with Little House of Music and a Monday musical quote! I just love quotes! Can you tell?

"THE JOY OF MUSIC SHOULD NEVER BE INTERRUPTED BY A COMMERICIAL!"
Leonard Bernstein

I don't like it when somebody talks when a song is playing that I wrote!

'MISS G WITH A STATEMENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN MADE IN 1863!"

Miss G with Little House of Music says, You Go Abe! This statement holds true today. Maybe all of our politicians should read this!

"CONGRESSMEN WHO WILLFULLY TAKE ACTIONS DURING WARTIME THAT DAMAGE MORALE AND UNDERMINE THE MILITARY ARE SABOTEURS AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED, EXILED, OR HANGED!"
Abraham Lincoln---1863

You tell em' Abe. Wish you were here to help us out now, we really need you!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WITH SOMETHING REALLY COOL ABOUT TCHAIKOVSKY!"

Miss G with Little House of Music has some exciting news about "Dynamics!"

Composer's add F's or P's to show how loudly or softly their composition should be played. The F means forte which means to play loudly and the P means piano which means to play softly.
Tchaikovsky used both of these dynamics to extreme.
In Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" Tchaikovsky used FFFF! I didn't know you could play that loud without breaking your piano keys!
In Tchaikovsky's "Pathetique Symphony" Tchaikovsky used PPPPP! I don't know how anyone can hear the music if it's that soft!

I do have a great idea. In every Library in the world they should have a big sign that says, "PIANISSIMO!" That means very soft and very quite!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC AND YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music is right now sitting at her desk reading this precious story laughing out loud! It is so cute!
"RETIREMENT"
"A CHILD'S VIEW"
After Christmas break, the teacher asked her small pupils to write how they spent their holidays. One small boy's effort sounded like this:
We always used to spend Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma. They used to live here in a big brick home, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida. Now they live in a place with a lot of other retarded people. They all live in little tin boxes. They ride on big three-wheeled tricycles and they all wear name tags, because they don't know who they are. They go to a big building called a wrecked hall; but if was wrecked they got it fixed because it is all right now. They play games and do exercises there, but they don't do them very good.
There is a swimming pool there. They go into it and just stand there with their hats on. I guess they don't know how to swim.
As you go into their park there is a doll house with a little man sitting in it. He watches all day so they can't get out without him seeing them. When they can sneak out, they go to the beach and pick up shells that they think are dollars.
My Grandma used to bake cookies and stuff, but I guess she forgot how. Nobody cooks, they just eat out in fast food restaurants. Some of the people are so retarded that they don't know how to cook at all, so my Grandma and Grandpa bring food into the wrecked hall and they call it "pot luck."
My Grandma says Grandpa worked all his life and earned his retardment. I wish they would move back up here, but I guess the little man in the doll house won't let them out.
It was sure great fun for me to get back home again!

Isn't this just the best? Enjoy, laugh and then laugh some more! Kids say the cutest things! I love this one!

Miss G with Little House of Music has a passion for flowers, so this is extra special to me.

"THIS IS HOW MISS G TEACHES THE NOTES TO HER STUDENTS AT LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC"

Miss G with Little House of Music has so much fun teaching her students the first ten notes, C-G in the Treble clef and C-F in the Bass clef.
I am wearing Sweet Candy's, Middle C's hat and holding up the letter C and the C note on the staff. "Plus I have a lollipop in my mouth!"
There is a hat for every note and the letter and the note on the staff. My students put the letter with the right note and add their hat and "Presto" the students learn the notes.
It is not the letter C or the note C that helps them learn so fast, It's the "Hats!" By lesson ten of level two of Little House of Music my students match all ten notes to the ten letters and add the ten hats and we are off to the piano to play!
After 20 lessons in Little House of Music or 20 weeks my students can sit on the piano bench and read music. Hallelujah!
By adding the hats it makes learning music fun. Actually it's so much fun that they don't even know they are learning.
You all will get to see all ten hats the students add to the notes real soon.
I'll blog the children wearing the hats. That will really be so much more fun!
Stop by Little House of Music and I'll show you all ten hats!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC!"

Miss G with Little House of Music and I bet you have never seen a receipt this long!
I was out shopping and came across this big sale for my student's prize basket.
The student's prize basket is overflowing! I got so much stuff I can't get it all in my huge basket.
Boy, do the students have fun digging around in there to get a prize. Every time they pass a book they get a prize, every time they pass from one level to another they get five prizes. If they are student of the week they get five prizes, and on their birthday they get five prizes. All I do is buy prizes!!!
The prize basket is just one more reason that music is so much fun here at Little House of Music.
If you stop by to visit I'll probably allow you to pick out a prize!
Rewards are the name of the game. Who wants to work hard without getting a pay check or an award? Just one more reason my students do so well!

"MISS G---HEY MADISON LOOK AT YOUR CACTUS GARDEN!"

This is Miss G with Little House of Music and before my Madison moved to Hawaii she planted a cactus garden for me.
Madison, just look at how much everything has grown!
By the time you get back to Florida to visit the plants will be twice this size again.
Every time I look at my cactus garden I see Madison digging up the soil and planting another cactus. Madison will always be here with me in Florida even though she now lives in Hawaii!
I miss you Madison and so do the cactus!
Love and Hugs,

"MISS G'S AND ROSE'S CHRISTMAS TREES BOND!"

Miss G with Little House of Music has a wonderful story to tell you.
When Madison's family moved to Hawaii, Madison's mother Rose gave me her plants to keep for her in case they ever move back. Boy, I wish they would!
Anyway, their first Christmas in Florida while they were waiting for their new house to be built they lived in an apartment. Instead of getting a big Christmas Tree they brought a Norfolk Pine for their Christmas Tree. That's the same thing that happened to me 18 years ago!
My Norfolk Pine is the huge one and theirs is the one in the pot! It only took one day for the two Norfolk pines to be together and they bonded. I guess I'll now have to plant theirs next to mine!
These are pictures of our two Christmas trees together and I think it is very special, I'm actually honored to have their Christmas Tree!
I think I will decorated both of them this Christmas. Even though they are in Hawaii we'll be celebrating Christmas together this year.
I sure do miss that family and my special girl Madison!
Merry Christmas everyone and enjoy our beautiful Norfolk Pines!

"MISS G WITH LILTTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC-BILL YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ME!"

Miss G with Little House of Music gets NO respect! Bill you are not paying attention to me!
While at the beach, taking pictures, hunting sea glass and enjoying the beautiful day before Fay the tropical storm came to visit us, Bill who is my webmaster and myself were having a great conversation or at least I thought so! Check out my new website: http://www.littlehouseofmusic.com/. It's really coming along beautifully, Bill is doing a GREAT job! It soon will be finished and I'm excited, plus we are having a fun time doing it!
While I'm talking away, Bill must have been looking at his feet! I guess his feet were more important than whatever I was saying!!!
I think these are really cute pictures. Plus you get to see the beautiful ocean.
Finally, Bill looks at me and he finally answers me! I can't even remember what I was saying now so it must not have been important anyway!!!
Enjoy our Beautiful Beach.
