"MISS G WITH A MUSIC JOKE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music loves these music jokes!

This little boy tells his Mom, "MY PIANO TEACHER IS VERY RELIGIOUS. SHE KEEPS CLOSING HER EYES AND SAYING, GOOD LORD!"

I have never done that, all my students are "STARS!"

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC" IT'S WHAT YOU DO---NOT WHEN YOU DO IT!

Miss G with Little House of Music finds this article from the Reader's Digest very interesting!

"IT'S WHAT YOU DO---NOT WHEN YOU DO IT!"

Ted Williams, at age 42 slammed a home run in his last official time at bat.
Mickey Mantle, age 20, hit 23 home runs his first full year in the major leagues.
Golda Meir was 71 when she became prime minister of Israel.
William Pitt II was 24 when he became prime minister of Great Britain.
George Bernard Shaw was 94 when one of his plays was first produced.
Mozart was just seven when his first composition was published.
Now how about this? Benjamin Franklin was a newspaper columnist at 16, and a framer of the United States Constitution when he was 81.

You're never too young or too old if you've got talent.
Let's recognize that age has little to do with ability!

"MISS G WITH A MUSIC JOKE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music wishes every child felt this way!

This little girl said, "THE PIANO HAS NO BATTERIES, SO I CAN PLAY IT ALL I WANT!"

Parents of piano students PLEASE make this suggestion to your piano students! It just may help!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC AND I THINK "McCAIN READ MY BLOG ON HIM!"

Miss G with Little House of Music congratulates McCain for his Vice President pick and running mate.
Of course at first I thought it would have been wonderful if Hillary would have changed parties and became McCain's running mate but I'm just as happy with his pick as I would have been if he had picked Hillary!
I am not a women's libber by any means but this is going to be so cool! Let's just keep this election one of the most unbelievable elections in our Country's history! What next???
Whomever thought of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate deserves a "Gold" medal. I can hardly wait to get to the voting machine in November.
There should be a movie make about this election called; "ARE YOU BELIEVING THIS!"
Best of luck to all the candidates and may they all remain safe.

MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC---"MEET THE NEXT GENE KRUPA"

Miss G with Little House of Music introduces the next Gene Krupa!
These pictures are of one of my "Star" students Mr. Jack.
I have been teaching Jack for just about all of his life. Jack and I are buddies and great friends.
Although I do not teach the drums, I have a drum set in my music room for the enjoyment of my students. Well, last week at Jack's piano lesson he decided to get down on the drums! His Mother, Patricia and myself just let him do his thing until we could NO longer stand it!!! Please take notice to the lollipop in his mouth!
My Jack was born with the gift of music. It's in every part of him, he is a natural and really was playing the drums very well. So now not only is Jack a very creative and talented pianist he is a drummer as well.
I told him Mother that I'd be more than happy for Jack to take the drum set to their home and start playing, I even have a teacher for him! I wish you could have seen his Mother's face! Of course she said no!
How are we ever going to have another Gene Krupa if no one plays the drums because the drums are too noisy! I'm going to offer the drums to Jack again this week!
Jack is so precious and has the longest eye lashes I've ever seen. Why do the boys always get the long beautiful lashes?
I have enjoyed teaching Jack and his brother Justin for years now and I also just love the whole family. They are truly special people.
All the girls think Jack and Justin are really cute but I'm the only one that gets a hug from them every week!
I'm looking forward to another drum solo on Thursday!

"MISS G WITH A "VERY INSPIRING" STORY, "JEWELRY FOR JOY"

Miss G with Little House of Music with a "Special" story about two of my "Special" students; sisters, Elise and Sara.
Elise went to a mission camp. There she watched a documentary about the children of Uganda and the "Invisible Children" organization. Elise was so moved that these children didn't have anything that she wanted to do something to help the children in Uganda.
"JEWELRY FOR JOY" was born: http://web.me.com/eshivamber
Elise and Sara have started their own campaign to help the children in Uganda. They are making jewelry and beautiful jewelry I may add! Every penny of the proceeds go to the children in Uganda. I am very proud of Elise and Sara. Wouldn't it just be wonderful if everyone helped everyone else like these sisters are helping other children! Like they say, "Out of the Mouths of Babes!" Hopefully we can all learn a lesson from what two children are doing to help other children!
I'm asking you all to go to their website and read the information about the Invisible Children! After you read the article which is short and to the point you will want to buy their wonderful jewelry. I've purchased a bracelet and ear rings so far! Their jewelry is one of a kind and very unique. Not only are these two sisters talented and creative pianist they are also talented and creative jewelry manufacturers!
Elise told me, "It is not safe there and we should help, they can't even buy a banana there." Isn't that sad?
It's soon time to think about that special Christmas present. "Jewelry For Joy" has just the perfect gift for that perfect someone and it's one of a kind!
The pictures are of Sara on the left and Elise on the right. They brought their jewelry to Little House of Music and I'm helping them sell their creations! The jewelry is cool for the young and exquisite for the not so young!
YOU GO ELISE AND SARA, MY HATS OFF TO YOU BOTH AND I'M SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!

"MISS G WITH A VERY INTERESTING IDEA!"

This is Miss G with Little House of Music.
I got this idea that I think is cool plus funny!
Wouldn't it be GREAT if Hillary Clinton changed parties and was John McCain's running mate. McCain would be sure to win then!!!
If it were me, I'd do it! This hold election has been so crazy we might as well keep it that way!!!
"McCAIN CLINTON TICKET!"

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC IS STARTING NEW CLASSES!"

Hi, Miss G here with Little House of Music. In two weeks I'm starting three new Little House of Music classes. One is a "Free" class for disabled and handicap children. For years my chosen charity was "My Refuge" for abused and neglected children, but they have now closed so I need a new adventure in my life. So I have chosen a free Little House of Music class for challenged children. It takes 10 weeks to get through level one of Little House of Music but it may take us twice that long but it doesn't matter if it's 40 lessons. Music will be wonderful for these special children. I can already see their smiles! This class will be held on Monday's from 4:30 until 5:30.
The other two classes are for children ages 3-6. One will be held every Tuesday from 4:00 until 5:00 and the other class will be held on Wednesdays at the same time.
It's time to get these little one's learning music Mom's and Dad's!
For any of the three classes call 777-7192 to sign up your child for level one of Little House of Music.

"MISS G'S TWO "STARS" AND I REALLY MEAN IT!

Miss G with Little House of Music presents her two "Stars!" On the right is Miss Summer and on the left is Miss Starr! We have a real star here but only she has two r's in her name.
These two young ladies are best of friends. Starr lives across the street from Summer's Mimi! That means grandmother! Starr is in the fourth grade and is a cheerleader. Summer is in the second grade and has tried just about everything there is to try. She is getting a taste of everything our world has to offer. This past summer, Summer has taken classes in cooking, pottery and music just to name a few.
Summer is just about my own child! When she was born I lived across the street from her. We have gone from Baby to one of my great piano students all in about 7 years!
Hope you two girls continue to have so much fun together. There is nothing better than friendship!
Hugs to you both,
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G WITH A PRECIOUS PICTURE---SWEET DREAMS!"

Miss G with Little House of Music just loves this picture. Is there anything more precious? I came across this picture while I was on the Internet. No, this isn't my cat but I sure wish it was!
I wonder if cats dream? If so this one is having a beautiful, calm dream. No cares in the world.
Enjoy and I hope you all have sweet dreams tonight.

"MISS G FROM LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WELCOMES BACK KATIE AND BRANDON FROM CHINA."

Miss G with Little House of Music was so happy to see Katie and Brandon again. They were visiting their grandparents in China for the whole summer. What a vacation! Just think of all the knowledge then obtained while visiting China. A completely different culture than ours and so many new things to see.
Katie and Brandon's Mother is originally from China.
They were in Beijing during the Olympics but didn't get to see any events. They did get Olympics shirts. Brandon is wearing his in the picture.
Welcome back to the USA Katie and Brandon and welcome back to your music. They are both excellent students and I sure did miss them.

"MISS G WITH YET ANOTHER MUSICAL QUOTE!"

Miss G from Little House of Music with a very clever musical quote.

"YOU ARE THE MUSIC WHILE THE MUSIC LASTS."
T.S Eliot

Then I say, lets just keep the music going on and on forever!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G FROM LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WOULD LIKE YOU TO MEET THE FATHER OF THE PIANOFORTE."

Hi, Miss G with Little House of Music has a very interesting music story to tell.
Meet Mr. Muzio Clementi. Clementi was born in Rome, Italy at the beginning of the Classical period, in 1752 and lived until 1832.
Some composers were not very popular and had no money while they were alive. they became famous only years after they died. The opposite happened to composer Muzio Clementi. Her was famous and rich when he was alive, but was not as well-known after his death. In the early 1800's Clementi's music was as famous as that of Hayden and even Beethoven, but today not many people have even heard about him. Yet, the inscription on his tomb in the Westminster Abbey in England proudly announces that he was:
"THE FATHER OF THE PIANOFORTE."
Clementi started a company that published music and made pianofortes. (The pianoforte was an early piano. It was also called the fortepiano.)
Like so many others I've never heard his music but will order some today! I just wonder how many other great composers we have never heard of!

"MISS G'S TWO PRECIOUS GRANDCHILDREN TAKE IT TO THE ROAD!"

Miss G with Little House of Music couldn't keep up with her two grandchildren on their bikes!
They had so much fun, but I felt like I needed a nap when we got home. I can see why young people have children.
Several times I have to run to keep up with them and of course when I said wait for me they went faster!
My darling grandchildren, Braden on the left and Natalie on the right. Aren't they precious in their helmets?
My daughter, Sue Ann won't let me get them horns for their bikes, I wonder why?
I guess I'm going to have to get a bike if I want to keep up with them!
Enjoy!

"MISS G WELCOMES LOGAN BACK TO LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC!"

Miss G with Little House of Music is so excited that my Logan has returned back home! The Flordia Gator's biggest fan has returned to Florida!
Logan's Dad was in the United States Air Force and was transferred to Cheyenne, Wyoming for two years.
The minute they returned to Florida I received a wonderful phone call. My Logan was back! It was like he was gone forever. Logan is now 12 and in the sixth grade. When he left we had a party for him and of course anytime Miss G says goodbye she cries!

Besides playing the paino Logan enjoys football, kickball and dogs and cats.
Logan continued with piano lessons while he was gone. I always write on all my students new songs, play your scales 5,000 times a week! I want them to realize just how important the scales are. Well anyway, his new teacher looked at the books he was using when he took from me and she asked him, "Did your other piano teacher really make you play your scales 5,000 times!" Logan laughed and say no, she just wants us to play them a lot of times every week.
If I put play your scales 50 times a week they might do it five times, but by putting 5,000 times they play their scales a lot more than five times a week!
It looks like Logan grew a foot while he was gone. That good old Wyoming air! He looks so good to me I had to have 5,000 hugs!
Welcome home Logan! We have so many exciting songs to learn and so much theory to learn and so many more scales to learn! I better stop or he'll leave again!
We are going to have so much fun!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G CONGRADULATE'S MISS CONNER ON PLAYING HER VERY FIRST SONGS!"

Miss G here with Little House of Music.
Can you tell by the picture how excited eight year old Connor is about playing her first song? She was smiles from ear to eat. Isn't she just precious?
Connor really wanted to take piano lessons really bad. Her first lesson was so much fun. I told her the whole story about the clef's getting married and after returning from their honeymoon they moved into their new home, The Grand Staff! I then proceeded to explain the whole Little House of Music story to her. It's as easy as that!
I don't think the children realize that on lesson number one they are going to be playing songs and reading music. It's so easy after they hear the story!
Connor played three songs by reading the music on her first lesson. You Go Connor!
One thing the children get confused about is that middle C can be dressed as a quarter note, half note, dotted half note and whole note. It's always the same note because it's at the same place on the staff but it's just dressed differently. Just like all of us. We dress differently every day when we come out to play!
Welcome to the Little House of Music family Connor. We are so happy you have joined us. In a year from now you'll know hundreds of songs to play and will be reading the music to everyone of them!
Hugs to Connor, From Miss G at Little House of Music

"MISS G'S WHALE BEACHES ITSELF DURING STORM!"

Hi, this is Miss G from Little House of Music and you are not going to believe this one.
My toy whale I brought for my grandchildren beached itself or maybe I should say pooled itself during tropical storm Fay!
When I got up in the morning and saw that I thought I must take a picture of this and blog it!
After I took the picture I saved the whale's life and put it back into the swimming pool!
There are so many cute things that happen in our world if we just take the time to see them!
By the way the whale's name is Shamu! Yes, my grandchildren were at Sea World twice this summer.
Enjoy!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WITH A MONDAY MUSICAL QUOTE!"

Yes, it's Miss G again with Little House of Music and a Monday musical quote! I just love quotes! Can you tell?

"THE JOY OF MUSIC SHOULD NEVER BE INTERRUPTED BY A COMMERICIAL!"
Leonard Bernstein

I don't like it when somebody talks when a song is playing that I wrote!

'MISS G WITH A STATEMENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN MADE IN 1863!"

Miss G with Little House of Music says, You Go Abe! This statement holds true today. Maybe all of our politicians should read this!

"CONGRESSMEN WHO WILLFULLY TAKE ACTIONS DURING WARTIME THAT DAMAGE MORALE AND UNDERMINE THE MILITARY ARE SABOTEURS AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED, EXILED, OR HANGED!"
Abraham Lincoln---1863

You tell em' Abe. Wish you were here to help us out now, we really need you!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WITH SOMETHING REALLY COOL ABOUT TCHAIKOVSKY!"

Miss G with Little House of Music has some exciting news about "Dynamics!"

Composer's add F's or P's to show how loudly or softly their composition should be played. The F means forte which means to play loudly and the P means piano which means to play softly.
Tchaikovsky used both of these dynamics to extreme.
In Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" Tchaikovsky used FFFF! I didn't know you could play that loud without breaking your piano keys!
In Tchaikovsky's "Pathetique Symphony" Tchaikovsky used PPPPP! I don't know how anyone can hear the music if it's that soft!

I do have a great idea. In every Library in the world they should have a big sign that says, "PIANISSIMO!" That means very soft and very quite!
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC AND YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!"

Miss G with Little House of Music is right now sitting at her desk reading this precious story laughing out loud! It is so cute!
"RETIREMENT"
"A CHILD'S VIEW"
After Christmas break, the teacher asked her small pupils to write how they spent their holidays. One small boy's effort sounded like this:
We always used to spend Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma. They used to live here in a big brick home, but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida. Now they live in a place with a lot of other retarded people. They all live in little tin boxes. They ride on big three-wheeled tricycles and they all wear name tags, because they don't know who they are. They go to a big building called a wrecked hall; but if was wrecked they got it fixed because it is all right now. They play games and do exercises there, but they don't do them very good.
There is a swimming pool there. They go into it and just stand there with their hats on. I guess they don't know how to swim.
As you go into their park there is a doll house with a little man sitting in it. He watches all day so they can't get out without him seeing them. When they can sneak out, they go to the beach and pick up shells that they think are dollars.
My Grandma used to bake cookies and stuff, but I guess she forgot how. Nobody cooks, they just eat out in fast food restaurants. Some of the people are so retarded that they don't know how to cook at all, so my Grandma and Grandpa bring food into the wrecked hall and they call it "pot luck."
My Grandma says Grandpa worked all his life and earned his retardment. I wish they would move back up here, but I guess the little man in the doll house won't let them out.
It was sure great fun for me to get back home again!

Isn't this just the best? Enjoy, laugh and then laugh some more! Kids say the cutest things! I love this one!

"THIS IS HOW MISS G TEACHES THE NOTES TO HER STUDENTS AT LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC"

Miss G with Little House of Music has so much fun teaching her students the first ten notes, C-G in the Treble clef and C-F in the Bass clef.
I am wearing Sweet Candy's, Middle C's hat and holding up the letter C and the C note on the staff. "Plus I have a lollipop in my mouth!"
There is a hat for every note and the letter and the note on the staff. My students put the letter with the right note and add their hat and "Presto" the students learn the notes.
It is not the letter C or the note C that helps them learn so fast, It's the "Hats!" By lesson ten of level two of Little House of Music my students match all ten notes to the ten letters and add the ten hats and we are off to the piano to play!
After 20 lessons in Little House of Music or 20 weeks my students can sit on the piano bench and read music. Hallelujah!
By adding the hats it makes learning music fun. Actually it's so much fun that they don't even know they are learning.
You all will get to see all ten hats the students add to the notes real soon.
I'll blog the children wearing the hats. That will really be so much more fun!
Stop by Little House of Music and I'll show you all ten hats!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC!"

Miss G with Little House of Music and I bet you have never seen a receipt this long!
I was out shopping and came across this big sale for my student's prize basket.
The student's prize basket is overflowing! I got so much stuff I can't get it all in my huge basket.
Boy, do the students have fun digging around in there to get a prize. Every time they pass a book they get a prize, every time they pass from one level to another they get five prizes. If they are student of the week they get five prizes, and on their birthday they get five prizes. All I do is buy prizes!!!
The prize basket is just one more reason that music is so much fun here at Little House of Music.
If you stop by to visit I'll probably allow you to pick out a prize!
Rewards are the name of the game. Who wants to work hard without getting a pay check or an award? Just one more reason my students do so well!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC-ISN'T SHE BEAUTIFUL?"

Hi again from Miss G at Little House of Music.
Meet our Sharon, isn't she beautiful. She should be a model!
Sharon is originally from Peru.
Sharon is my webmaster Bill's wife. I hope he listens to her more than he listens to me! Sharon helps Bill in the office and helps him with design. Sharon is super talented, remember behind every great man is a fabulous woman! Men, they just can't do it alone!!!
Thank you Sharon for all your help and also thank you for sharing your husband and daughter Raven with me. Raven is one of my wonderful piano students and she is doing very well. Just wait until you hear the song Raven is writing.
Sharon: Bill was SUPER lucky the day he met you.
I love you all,

"MISS G---HEY MADISON LOOK AT YOUR CACTUS GARDEN!"

This is Miss G with Little House of Music and before my Madison moved to Hawaii she planted a cactus garden for me.
Madison, just look at how much everything has grown!
By the time you get back to Florida to visit the plants will be twice this size again.
Every time I look at my cactus garden I see Madison digging up the soil and planting another cactus. Madison will always be here with me in Florida even though she now lives in Hawaii!
I miss you Madison and so do the cactus!
Love and Hugs,
Miss G Little House of Music

MEET MISS G'S BEST STUDENT---MISS ETHEL CLEF"!

This is Miss G with a picture of Little House of Music's best piano student.
Meet "Miss Ethel Clef!" Isn't she beautiful with her tiara on?
Miss Ethel Clef lives here at Little House of Music so she gets to play the piano every minute I'm not teaching another student.
Of course all of are other students love Miss Ethel Clef! She is the "Star" of every show here at Little House of Music.
When I grow up I'm going to be a Music Coach!

"MISS G'S AND ROSE'S CHRISTMAS TREES BOND!"

Miss G with Little House of Music has a wonderful story to tell you.
When Madison's family moved to Hawaii, Madison's mother Rose gave me her plants to keep for her in case they ever move back. Boy, I wish they would!
Anyway, their first Christmas in Florida while they were waiting for their new house to be built they lived in an apartment. Instead of getting a big Christmas Tree they brought a Norfolk Pine for their Christmas Tree. That's the same thing that happened to me 18 years ago!
My Norfolk Pine is the huge one and theirs is the one in the pot! It only took one day for the two Norfolk pines to be together and they bonded. I guess I'll now have to plant theirs next to mine!
These are pictures of our two Christmas trees together and I think it is very special, I'm actually honored to have their Christmas Tree!
I think I will decorated both of them this Christmas. Even though they are in Hawaii we'll be celebrating Christmas together this year.
I sure do miss that family and my special girl Madison!
Merry Christmas everyone and enjoy our beautiful Norfolk Pines!

"MISS G WITH LILTTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC-BILL YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ME!"

Miss G with Little House of Music gets NO respect! Bill you are not paying attention to me!
While at the beach, taking pictures, hunting sea glass and enjoying the beautiful day before Fay the tropical storm came to visit us, Bill who is my webmaster and myself were having a great conversation or at least I thought so! Check out my new website: http://www.littlehouseofmusic.com/. It's really coming along beautifully, Bill is doing a GREAT job! It soon will be finished and I'm excited, plus we are having a fun time doing it!
While I'm talking away, Bill must have been looking at his feet! I guess his feet were more important than whatever I was saying!!!
I think these are really cute pictures. Plus you get to see the beautiful ocean.
Finally, Bill looks at me and he finally answers me! I can't even remember what I was saying now so it must not have been important anyway!!!
Enjoy our Beautiful Beach.

"MISS G'S "SUMO WRESTLER!"

Miss G with Little House of Music would like you to meet my "Sumo Wrestler" Mr. Patch my cat!
I have had him on a diet for years believe it or not! Patch has a hip problem when he was one year old and had to have both of his hips removed so he really isn't very active at all, but he is my boy and I love him! Patch the fat cat! All my other cats together do not weigh as much as Patch.
Patch is the only cat I have ever had that gives love bites. He nibbles on my hands and arms to tell me he loves his Mom, how precious!
Other than his name Sumo and Patch I also call him my $3,000.00 cat! That is very close to the amount we have spent on him at the Vets for surgery and all kind of other things! Oh well, I'd rather have my Patch than the money any day!
Enjoy the pictures!

"MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC---CAN YOU DO THIS?"

Meet one of Miss G's "STAR" and outstanding student with Little House of Music plus a "STAR" dancer!
Miss Breezy came to her lesson straight from dance class. She looked so beautiful I just had to take pictures! When she put her leg up like that I was truly amazed. I have never been able to do that, have you?
Breezy must be as good of a dancer as she is a pianist! She has two older brothers that also take piano lessons from me. I told Breezy that I think she is going to pass both of her brothers on the piano, this will get the boys playing more!!!
Breezy is in the fourth grade and is an excellent student. I believe that the reason Breezy does so well in school, piano and dancing is because that is the only things she does, so that is what she concentrates on. Some of my students do so many extra activities that they are spread way to thin and really don't excel at anything they do.
It came a time with my two children that I said, OK, you have tried all these different things now lets just pick two and lets be good at your favorite two things. It worked!
Breezy looks so precious on the piano bench. Her posture is perfect, her back is perfectly straight when she plays. She can't wait to get on the piano bench because Breezy is proud of herself for playing her songs so well. Plus, she gives the best hugs!
I'm going to work on getting my leg up that high today! Let me know if any of you can do that!
I love you Breezy. Keep up the GREAT work!

"A TROPICAL STORM BY MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC!!!"

Miss G with Little House of Music would like you all to see just what a tropical storm looks like!
Just where is the sidewalk?
Aren't these pictures unbelievable? Remember this is only a tropical storm! I've lived through a category two and three hurricane and it wasn't this bad.
My husband and I are not allowed to do laundry, run the dishwasher and we are on a "CURFEW" from 8:00pm until 6:30am where we live.
I guess you don't have to be in a hurricane to live without electricity for two days, 24inches of rain can be worst if not just as bad!
There was a time in the past two days that I was very scared, tornado warnings every hour!
Tropical Storm Fay must really like us! She moved through our little barrier island at 2 miles per hour. She is still here just not as bad and not as much rain!
Schools and all government agency were closed today but "Walmart" was open!
Little House of Music was closed today due to 2 feet of water on our road.
If tropical storm Fay is about to visit you, I feel very sorry for you!
Be safe and stay out of the water on the roads because the sewers are backing up! BACTERIA!
Miss G Little House of Music in Paradise, Satellite Beach, Florida!

"MISS G FROM LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC WITH HER OWN MUSICAL QUOTE FOR TODAY!"

Miss G with Little House of Music is up to it again. Yes, My own musical quote for a rainy day or better yet for a tropical storm.

"FIRST THE DARK CLOUDS ROLL IN, THEN THE WIND BEGINS TO SING, THUNDER LETS OUT A BIG SIGH, LIGTHNING STREAKS ACROSS THE SKY, IT'S TIME FOR A LULLABY, IT'S TIME TO REST YOUR EYES, IT'S TIME TO LISTEN TO THE MUSIC THE RAIN DROPS MAKE AS YOUR WINDOW PANE CRIES."

"LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC IS OFF TODAY, WE ARE HAVING A TROPICAL STORM DAY OFF"

This is Miss G with Little House of Music getting everything done I've been going to do for the last month! We have a day off because of tropical storm Fay. No Hurricane thank heavens but Tornado's form from tropical storms. Schools are closed, but we did have trash pick up and mail service, now figure that out! They are telling everyone to stay off of the roads but the trash trucks and mail trucks are out working.
Will there ever again be a time when everyone is really off at the same time?
Anyway it's a great day to caught up on back issue items! My office may even get cleaned up or it is also a great day for a afternoon nap! I just might take one today. It is one of my favorite things to do.
Sweet Dreams,

"MISS G WITH "PLATO'S" DEFINITION OF MUSIC"

I put this definition in all my music books for Little House of Music. Miss G thinks every child should know who "Plato" was.

"PLATO'S DEFINITION OF MUSIC"
"MUSIC IS A MORAL LAW. IT GIVES A SOUL TO THE UNIVERSE, WINGS TO THE MIND, FLIGHT TO THE IMAGINATION, A CHARM TO SADNESS, GAIETY AND LIFE TO EVERYTHING ELSE. IT IS THE ESSENCE OF ORDER AND LEADS TO ALL THAT IS GOOD, JUST AND BEAUTIFUL."
PLATO

I just wonder what Plato would think of our "Grammy" televised show every year?

"MISS G'S LORE GOES TO BERLIN, GERMANY"

Miss G with Little House of Music received these pictures and e-mail from my dear friend Lore in Belgium.
The 2ND of May, Lore visited "Elisabeth," the musical in Berlin, Germany. She received this trip for her 18Th birthday.
Lore says: "Elisabeth is the Best German Musical ever. This musical tells the story of Elisabeth (Sissi) the Empress of Austria, Pia Douwes, a dutch Musical Actress, who also preformed on Broadway (Velma Kelly, Sally Bowles, played the role of Elisabeth."
Lore also said: "I cried at the beginning of the Musical and I cried at the end!"
Lore's passion is Musicals. She and I have so much in common. Lore goes to every musical she can get to all over Europe from her home in Belgium.
The pictures are of the the Theatre at night in Berlin, Germany which is a very beautiful picture.
The other picture is of the Empress of Austria, Elisabeth. On their second day there they visited the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie. That's Lore standing at the Berlin Wall.
I was very excited for Lore. She was in heaven, she waited so long to see "Elisabeth."
Thank you Lore for sharing the pictures of Berlin, Germany which so few of us will ever get to see in person.
I'm so happy for you that you finally got to see "Elisabeth!"

"MISS G IS SO EXCITED ABOUT 8-8-8-8-8-8-8-8!

Mr. Michael, you have made the United States of America very proud and happy. Miss G with Little House of Music "SALUTES" your accomplishments. YOU GO MICHAEL! Not only are you, Mr. Michael a champion you are a good person and a wonderful roll model for our youth, which we needed so badly. THANK YOU MICHAEL!
Anything in life that is worthwhile, wonderful and anything you love takes over your life. I'd like to know now many times Michael has dove into a swimming pool? I bet it's 888,888,888,888,888 times or more! I wonder if his birthday is an eight! The dedication and passion he has for swimming teaches all of our young children today what it takes to excel and make your dreams come true. You must eat, sleep and drink your passion.
If you want it badly enough you can do anything your heart desires to do in life if you stay positive! Never say "CAN'T," that's the worst word in our English language.
I'm looking so forward to the next Olympics in four years. More "GOLD" for Mr. Michael Phelps.
I'm so excited!

"MISS G WITH A LOOK AT REAL PRINCESSES"

Miss G with Little House of Music wants you to see what real "Princesses" looks like from Belgium.

All these friends for years are all going their separate ways to college. One is coming to the USA and going to college in Michigan, all the others will all be going to different college's in Belgium.

Good luck to all you Princesses where ever you may be and whatever you may be studying.
Miss G from Little House of Music wishes you all the best and write to me because I already know you all, Lore tells me everything!!!

"MISS G'S NEW GRANDDAUGHTER MAHRI CATE'S ROOM"

Miss G here with Little House of Music. What a great color combination for my new granddaughter Mahri Cate's room. Pink and brown, that is really cool. They have so many different items and colors now from when I have my children.
Grammy (or Miss G) just loves the beetle bug and the monkey and especially the "Love" sign. By the looks of the crib Mahri is already spoiled and she isn't even due until November 9, 2008 and believe me we can't wait! Holding Mahri for the first time will be a highlight in my life.
Just wanted to share the beginning of this precious new nursery which isn't finished yet! I can't wait to see it when it's finished!
Mother Catherine you are doing a wonderful job. You should be an interior decorator!

"MISS G RECEIVES PHONE CALL OF A LIFETIME"

Miss G with Little House of Music receives phone call of a lifetime!
Who else would call me as he is walking in the Olympic Stadium better known as the "Bird Nest" in Beijing, China, who else would think of me, who else would take their time to call me on such an exciting time in his life? Yes, my son Chris!
My very first phone call ever from China! For him to think of calling me at such an important time in his life makes (Miss G) his Mom so very happy and proud that my son loves me so very much. I can actually see him walking into the stadium with a smile on his face, shoulders back, head high and feeling very proud of himself.
Chris calling me was a very kind gesture on his part. I must have raised him well!
Thank you for calling your Mom Chris! It was the highlight of the year!
I love you Chris, please get home safely! GO USA!

"MISS G WITH WHAT IS MUSIC!"

Miss G with Little House of Music with two different definitions of "Music!"

Webster's dictionary defines music as: "The art and science of combining vocals and or instrument sounds or tones in varying melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre, especially so as to form structurally complete and emotionally expressive compositions."

I define "Music " as: "The art of combining sounds to express love, sounds of varying pitch to produce smiles, compositions to enjoy and add dance to, pleasing harmonic sounds to sing along with, therapy from life's trails, the universal language of peace, and finally sunshine in the darkness."

"MISS G WITH ANIMAL DAY!"

Miss G here with Little House of Music.
Today is animal day!
My dear friend Lore from Belgium sent me these pictures of her cat, dog and favorite bird.
Lore wrote this to me:
Here is pictures of my cat in the sink taking a bubble bath and my dog getting a tan with his cool sunglasses on! Boo is my cat and Max is my dog, also called Bob and Nob or Boolie and Noelle!
Boo is five years old and is the child of the first cat I had, her name was White because she was totally white. In 2004 she disappeared and we never saw her again. He is called Boo after the little girl in the movie Monsters Inc.
Max is nine years old and my very best friend. I love him so much, he sleeps on my bed and needs to be walked!
Also a picture of my favorite bird. When I see this kind of bird, "I GET GOOD MOODED!"
I love that, good mooded! I'll have to ask Lore what kind of bird that is, I've never seen one like that, it is beautiful. Maybe it's just a Belgium bird!
I spoke with Lore on the phone yesterday for about an hour. I miss her so much but will see her next summer. I hope the time flies by!
Enjoy, Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G'S MASTER PIANO TUNER"

Hi, this is Miss G with Little House of Music. Every week I get so many inquiries for a good piano tuner.
In my opinion Simon Rozenvan from Russia is the best in Brevard County Florida. He may even go out of Brevard County to tune your piano.
Give him a call when your beautiful, wonderful piano needs a check-up! Simon cleans piano's, tune's piano's and sells used piano's.
321-799-9371
I highly recommend him, as a matter of fact I won't allow anyone else to touch or tune my piano except for Mr. Simon.
Of course I do allow my students to touch my piano!!!
If you want the best tuning call Mr. Simon.

"MISS G'S NATALIE-GRAMMY ARE YOU SURE SNOW WHITE WON'T HURT ME?"

Miss G with Little House of Music and my granddaughter Natalie with Snow White.
While at the Orlando airport when my other granddaughter Darrien was leaving to return to Tennessee Natalie and her brother Braden and I walked around the airport and of course had to go into all the Disney, Spider man and Sea World shops.
We came across beautiful Snow White. Natalie wanted so badly to sit next to her and get her picture taken but just wasn't sure she would be safe. I kept telling her it would be OK but this is as close as she would get! I think she was scared the seven dwarf's were going to get her!Aren't kids just absolutely wonderful!!! She looks like she is scared to death!
Anyway, I was lucky enough to get this one picture of my Natalie with Snow White!

"MISS G WITH NEWS FROM BEIJING"

Miss G here with Little House of Music. I received an e-mail from my son, Chris this morning from Beijing.
This is what he said: "The people are very friendly, but this city is massive, 17 million people! We're about 40 minutes from downtown (staying near the airport) so we take taxi's everywhere, but it's very inexpensive, a 30 minute taxi ride is $10.00.
The haze is everything they said ti was, it's like a constant fog over the entire place, but I don't really see it effecting the performances as it seems to be more of a humidity haze than true pollution.
I had a low key day yesterday, so I went to the forbidden city to see all the palace's from the previous empires. It was Amazing! Imagine an area the size of a large college campus surrounded by a massive wall and a moat. It would have taken hours to walk the entire place.
Track and field starts tomorrow a.m. so we'll have a very busy next 3-4 days of morning and evening sessions. After Tuesday, it's just an evening session each day so it will be better and not so hectic."
How very cool, my son in Beijing, China. Chris has been to just about every country in the world except of course, North Korea!
Sounds like he's enjoying himself and getting to take it all in. I just wonder if he'll like the food?
Chris is just like his Mom, me, Miss G, he loves his career. We are two lucky people.

"MISS G LOSES AGAIN THIS YEAR!"

Miss G with Little House of Music loses the summer card tournament again!
Pictured is my granddaughter Darrien with a smile on her face because she won the "Summer Card Tournament" again this summer.
Darrien, Paul and I start the card tournament every year as soon as Darrien gets here from Tennessee and every year she wins! I should have never taught her the game when she was five! Just kidding of course. We just all love to play cards and cards we play, every minute we can while Darrien is here.
In case you are wondering what she has in her hand, it's the cat's treats, while Darrien is here she likes to spoil our cats. She was headed to give them all some right after she won the last card game of the summer!
Paul and I have until next summer to practice! Darrien is a hard one to beat at cards. I keep telling her she is just "Lucky!"

"MISS G'S STARS AT THE BACK TO SCHOOL EXPO"

Miss G with Little House of Music was so very proud of my "STARS" that preformed on stage at the back to school expo.
Maddie and Sydney who are sisters, bottom left played two duets and each played two songs by themselves. Isn't that wonderful?
Claire and Sarah both sang us a song from the Grammy nominated Little House of Music. Claire sang "Mr. Quarter Note" and Sarah sang "Myrtle the Turtle." Claire is in the middle and Sarah on top right. Aren't they all PRECIOUS?
I'm sure I not only produce "STARS" but also "HAMS!"
Thank you kids for getting up there and showing your stuff. Hey, adults, that's a hard thing to do! Most adults would crumble under the pressure of preforming up on stage in front of others but not my kids! YOU GO KIDS!
Maddie, Sydney, Claire and Sarah, Miss G is very proud of you all and THANK YOU!
I SEND A MILLION HUGS,
Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G WITH YET ANOTHER MUSICAL QUOTE!"

Miss G here with Little House of Music with yet another musical quote! Since I was born on Bach's birthday, March the 21st, I'll blog everything I can find about him! He and I are both Aries and born on the very first day of the horoscope. I must look into why they start with March the 21st and not January 1st. But every time I look at my horoscope Aries which starts on March 21st is always the first one.

"BACH OPENS A VISTA TO THE UNIVERSE. AFTER EXPERIENCING HIM, PEOPLE FEEL THERE IS A MEANING TO LIFE AFTER ALL."
Helmut Walcha

There defiantly is a meaning to my life and I'll swear to the day I die that Bach sends me my melodies!

"MISS G AT THE BACK TO SCHOOL EXPO"

Miss G with Little House of Music had a really fun day at the back to school expo at Merritt Square mall. The expo was hosted by the staff of the Mom's magazine with Florida Today.
I meet so many new and interesting people at the expo. My bubble gum and candy basket were the highlight at my booth! That was a good idea to take the goodies because everyone stops to visit that way. The only problem I had was I talked to much!!! Can you possibly imagine?
After we set everything up I just looked at the table and felt so proud that I had accomplished all of this for the children. All good positive educational fun stuff for kids. Yes, I'm proud but I don't know how and when I did it all, but I did!
Right now I'm working on at least five new projects for next years expo!

"A MUSIC TIP FROM MISS G WITH LITTLE HOUSE OF MUSIC"

Hi, Miss G here with Little House of Music with a wonderful music tip for all you musicians out there in the world.
When learning a new song it is very helpful to first play the scale of the key the song is written in and then play the three principle chords or primary chords that are also in that key.
EXAMPLE: If your new song is in the key of B flat, first play the B flat scale and then play the B flat chord, the E flat chord and the F7 chord. It will help your ear to hear mistakes and make you more aware of how many flats you have and what chords you will be playing in your new song.
It will help you tremendously in preparing to play a new piece of music.
Have fun with your music and play, play and play!
Hope this helps you all out.

"MISS G WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE OLYMPIC ANTHEM"

Miss G with Little House of Music with very exciting information about the "Olympic Anthem."
The Greek National poet Kostis Palamas pictued on the left wrote the poem, "Ancient Eternal and Immortal Spirit" and it's music was composed by Spyros Samaras pictured on the right for the first Olympiad where it was sung in the opening ceremony.
At later Olympics other anthems were played. The International Olympic committee formally and unanimously adopted the Samaras-Palamas work as the official Olympic Anthem in 1958.
Very interesting! I love the Olympic Anthem and now I know who wrote it! Did you know?

"MISS G WISHES GOLD FOR OUR UNITED STATES ATHLETICS!"

8-8-08!

Miss G with Little House of Music wishes gold for the good old USA!
Did you know that the five circles on the Olympic Flag represent the five parts of the world, the five continents? The Five Continents: Africa, Americans, Asia, Europe and Australia. Antarctica still has no competitors. North and South America are considered one continent. Some wonder why Europe and Asia are considered two continents instead of one! We really do have seven continents on our earth!

Baron de Coubertin designed the olympic flag in 1913-1914. The ring colors were based on the knowledge that at least one of the colors is on every flag of each participating country. The five interlocking rings represent the union of the five continents. First used in the seventh Olympaid in Antwerp, Belguim in 1920. At the end of the Games, the olympic flag is presented to the next host city by the Games host city.

I'll surely be keeping my fingers crossed for "Peace" at the Olympics. My son, Chris will be there with his track and field clients.
I have always enjoyed watching the Olympics, I hope you all watch and cheer on our United States athletics.

"THE MANY FACES OF MISS G'S BEAUTIFUL GRANDDAUGHTER, MISS DARRIEN"

Miss G here with Little House of Music. Isn't she lovely? My Darrien was here visiting me for two weeks from Tennessee. We had a wonderful time together, it just is never long enough.
Darrien is 14 years old and starting High School this year! Where does the time go? She is very active in school. She has been a cheerleader, dancer and into music at her school but this year she made it for the High School Soccer Team which she really was hoping for. She has been playing soccer for years and is very good and excited about making her school team.Great Job Darrien!
Darrien also excels in music. She has a beautiful singing voice and plays the piano very well. She has inherited my gift of music. She writes songs and one of her songs was on our "Two Octaves of Kids" CD. If Darrien wants to do something she keeps working on it until she makes it. I'm very proud of her. Her personality shines and she has many friends. Darrien lives her life with high standards and good values.
Darrien will swim with the Dolphins, because she wants too. Her big goal is to be apart of the Sea World Dolphin show! We found out all the details of what she must do to be considered to swim with the Dolphins. When she wants to do something, she'll do it! I wonder who she takes after?
She is already safely back in Tennessee and her Grammy, me, Miss G certainly misses my Darrien.
I love you Darrien and can't wait to see you again. I cherish every minute she and I have together. She's my girl!

"MISS G'S LONG DISTANCE TEACHING!"

Miss G here with Little House of Music. This is a first for me, long distance teaching, but it's just the beginning.
These picture are of Madison my student in Hawaii. I took these picture's at her last piano lesson on the Internet. This is a picture of my private music lesson with Madison on the computer screen. I was amazed at how well it turned out.
Madison and I both have signed up with SKYPE and we both have a camera and a microphone on our computers. SKYPE is free! Yes, it's free, you can talk to anyone anywhere in the world for free and see them. Isn't this cool?
I'll soon be able to teach every child in the world Little House of Music. Parents around the world can purchase the Little House of Music book with a keyboard and the two Grammy Nominated Cd's and a DVD of me teaching Little House of Music. You child can soon learn Little House of Music at home and you can save money on gas! We are only a few weeks away, so get ready parents!
I'm so happy I still get to see my Madison every week. I thought when she moved to Hawaii it would be a long time until I'd get to see her. SKYPE is really a great way to keep in touch or even teach music lessons!
Enjoy, Miss G Little House of Music

"MISS G'S STARS OUR BORN"

Miss G with one of her Little House of Music classes. These children are now stars. They are so precious?
We are already on week seven of Little House of Music. Today they learn, the triplets, Betty, Freddie and Brother Eddie, the group of three black notes on the piano. There are no "Myrtle the Turtles" in this class. They all get up at showtime and sing into the microphone. They don't know it but this helps them tremendously in there formal education.
These stars have already played songs on all the black keys on the piano. they have learned all about Mr. Quarter Note, the musical alphabet forward and backward, where all the notes are on the piano, the twins, Suzie and Sonny, notes go up and notes go down, piano and forte, solo, duet, trio and quartet, how to rhyme and of course Miss Treble and Mr. Bass! In 14 weeks they will all be playing the piano and reading notes. You Go Kids!
I love to teach this class. These children give the best hugs!

Miss G with Little House of Music has two peas in a pod! Look at these girls and you would think they were sisters! They look a like, they breath a like, they act a like, they like the same things and they dress a like, and the most important thing is that they have so much fun together.
The beauty on the left is my granddaughter Darrien and the beauty on the right is my student and friend Hallie. Every year when Darrien comes down from Tennessee to visit me she and Hallie are together all the time! I really think Darrien comes down to see Hallie and not me!
Both of these girls are just beautiful and very talented on the piano. Every summer I get to find out what's cool and what is NOT cool! It really is like all three of us are like sisters which makes me very happy to included in their conversations and shopping. I am be reliving my childhood!
I love both of these two girls with all my heart.

"THE NOTES I HANDLE NO BETTER THAN MANY PIANISTS. BUT THE PAUSES BETWEEN THE NOTES - AH, THAT IS WHERE THE ART RESIDES!

Miss G with Little House of Music saw a first! Yesterday while at the beach I was walking out into the ocean and a wonderful, beautiful Sea Turtle swam right by me. It's the first time I ever have seen that! I was so excited that I wanted to follow it but I didn't think that was a good idea, I just might end up in Hawaii!
I love Sea Turtles and am a member of the Sea Turtle Preservation Society here where I live.
I have seen broken eggs on the beach where baby's have hatched, and one day even found a baby Sea Turtle. I called the Sea Turtle Preservation Society to come and get the baby so it wouldn't die, but never ever a real live big Sea Turtle swimming next to me. How very cool is that?
That's my Florida! Come and I'll share it with you!

"MISS G'S AIRPLANE EXPERIENCE!"

Up, up and and away! Miss G with Little House of Music with a funny story!
At least we got there safe and sound which of course is the most important thing: but my flight from Florida to Tennessee was unbelievable!
First of all, we sat on the airplane with no air conditioning until everyone on board was dripping wet! The pilot made and announcement that we would not have air conditioning until we were at 10,000 feet! At 10,000 feet we were told to turn on our little round air vents. Well, it only took five minutes until we were all freezing! Everyone around me plus myself turned our air vents off!
Second of all, we were told to look at our menu in the back of the seat in front of us. Did you know that you can now shop while in the air? I could have purchased a replica of the airplane I was freezing to death in for $20.00. Disney playing cards for $5.00, stuff animals, and on and on! A mixed drink was $7.00, some kind of pep you up drink for $5.00, bottled water, tonic water and club soda, coke and on and on for $2.00. Anything to eat was also $2.00, pretzels, re licorice, potato chips, beef jerky and on and on! Are you believing this?
Third of all everyone on the plane was scared to death to ask for a blanket, I'm sure that would have been $50.00!
When we FINALLY landed the pilot ask everyone at the window seats to close the blinds, then he asked everyone to turn off our air vents and also to re-buckle our seat belts. He did mention this was to help the next passenger that sat in our seats! I felt sorry for the next person who sat in my seat! I sat next to a husband and wife. the husband had his newspaper all over him throughout the flight to keep warm, the wife put a jacket on, she was smart to bring a jacket! Before we DEPLANED I looked at the wife and said, "I sure hope they are not going to ask us to vacuum before we get off the plane!"
The Southwest commerical you see on TV is just about right. $2.00 for hitting the call button and $5.00 for a blanket if you fly on other airlines other than theirs. What an experience, it's rather funny now but not then!
Next time you fly, take one of those bottles with water in them with a fan, take along a heavy blanket, your own bottle of water and snacks. You'll then we comfortable, have something to drink and eat and be warm while you enjoy your flight!
HAPPY FLYING EVERYONE!

"MEET MISS G'S DAUGHTER IN LAW CATHERINE"

Miss G with Little House of Music had a wonderful visit with Catherine. The reason I'm writing in this color is because it's close to pink and Catherine and Chris are having a baby girl. The baby is due November 9Th and Catherine doesn't even look like she is going to have a baby yet!!!
Catherine is married to my son Chris and I already told her that when she goes into labor she might as well drive herself to the hospital! My son will be a nervous wreck and have to take a shower before they can leave for the hospital and I'm already sure he'll forget Catherine and Mahri Cate's suitcase! Isn't that a precious name, Mahri Cate? That was Catherine's grandmother's name.
Catherine is from London, England and yes she talks funny! Catherine is a long distant runner and still runs Mahri Cate around the track everyday ten times. I don't think I could walk around the track one time!
We had a wonderful visit. We looked at cribs, blankets and pink everything. It's been awhile since I really looked at baby items and have they ever changed.
I even got to hear Mahri Cate's heartbeat when Catherine had her check up at the Doctors. How very cool that was, I felt honored!
I felt so much at home and I was so relaxed which is very unusual for me. We shopped, ate out, went to a state park, shopped some more, ate some more, went to the track, ate some more and shopped. Isn't that what a vacation is all about?
I am very proud to have Catherine a part of my family. She is a wonderful wife to my son, a wonderful mother to my four grandkittens and a GREAT daughter in law. We are very good friends, just isn't that wonderful? I feel very blessed.
Thanks for a great visit Catherine. I'll be back when Mahri Cate gets here and I love you very much.
