On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote "THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER" after witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland harbor during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key was an American Lawyer and Poet. The National Anthem of the United States of Americas words were set to a popular English drinking song! GO FIGURE!
